Colin is a friendly, intelligent and creative tutor who very much enjoys working in a classroom setting or one-to-one. Colin is an experienced secondary school teacher. Colin tutors primary English and Maths and 9+, 11+ and 13+ common entrance preparation. Colin is highly adept at structuring tutorials for these exams and has an excellent success rate (recent tutees have gained scholarships or places at Sutton and Wallington Grammar Schools, City of London, Dulwich College, Sydenham High School, Sevenoaks, The Perse, King’s College Wimbeldon, Alleyn’s,Emanuel, Streatham and Clapham Girls School, Colfe’s and Trinity). Amongst others, Colin has prepared pupils for most of the Dulwich schools and several in the Home Counties. He is also experienced in conducting assessments of students aiming towards 11+ and 13+ common entrance.
At his previous school – The Harris Academy at Peckham – Colin taught Citizenship and Sociology and was fast-tracked to become an ‘outstanding teacher’. Colin attended the prestigious Sherborne School, and went on to study a BSc in Politics and Sociology at Bristol University as well as obtaining his PGCE from London Met. He was born in Jamaica, and has a love of reggae music and Jamaican food. His final year thesis at Bristol focused on the Colonial Social History of Jamaica. He is a father of two primary-aged girls, and loves cooking, theatre and sports, including cricket, tennis and golf.
