Lucy graduated from King's College London in 2002 with a 2:1 Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences, specialising in Marine Biology. Lucy spent three years working in the City before realising her heart lay in education. She joined the prestigious Teach First Leadership Programme in 2005 and enjoyed two years teaching Science and A Level Biology. In this inner-city environment she encouraged an appreciation for nature and the outdoors in her students, winning an award for student engagement in her 'urban garden' project. Lucy left London for Hong Kong in 2007 and spent six happy years teaching in an international school where she gained experience of the International Baccalaureate, setting up a new IB programme within the school. Here, Lucy was promoted to Head of Year and then Head of House, a role that she thoroughly enjoyed due to its holistic nature in supporting the social, emotional and academic progress of young people. Lucy recently completed a Masters in Comparative Education and Development at the University of Hong Kong, her dissertation focussed on the role in Charities in education for sustainable development.
Lucy and her husband relocated back to London in August 2013 and she is currently taking a break from the classroom to look after her baby daughter. Lucy is a patient and approachable teacher and with over eight years teaching experience, she is able to match the individual needs of her students with a personalised learning programme. She enjoys fostering a appreciation of science in every day life and helping students gain confidence for their pending exams. Beyond education, Lucy loves yoga, cooking, music, travel and being outdoors in the fresh air.
