Laura studied History at Newcastle University and went on to complete the prestigious Teach First Leadership Development programme in 2015, successfully achieving 'outstanding' in her PGCE from UCL Institute of Education. Laura has taught for a number of years within an academy in London, where she demonstrated commitment in dedication to supporting children's academic development. As a result, Laura is responsible for the rapid levels of progress and academic success and confidence of many children.
Laura began tutoring whilst tutoring whilst at Newcastle University, supporting A Level History students in their final examinations. Since acquiring her PGCE, Laura has tutored students in many core subjects and helped to prepare them for entrance examinations, including City of London Girls school. Laura's teaching within an all-through school enabled her to enjoy teaching secondary History and English too. This has supported her mentoring and tutoring of GCSE English and History students.
Within the classroom and tutoring environment, Laura is keen to raise children's attainment through discussion, inquisitive learning and engaging activities. Following her teaching experience, Laura firmly believes in raising the self-confidence of her students and supports them to ask questions and not be afraid of making mistakes. Through this form of 'nurturing' approach, Laura has seen her students make rapid and accelerated progress, especially in the skills of analytical thinking and logical thinking.
Outside of the classroom, Laura is a keen reader, historian and volunteer. She enjoys netball and being creative.
Laura is available for online tuition to students anywhere in the world. Find out more about online tuition.
Laura, like all of our tutors, is a qualified teacher and has been interviewed by us personally. All of our tutors have at least two years of classroom teaching experience and come with fantastic references and criminal records checks.
