Leo studied English Literature at the University of London, gaining an honours degree followed by a master's degree in Modern Literatures. He has 25 years of experience as a secondary school classroom teacher and Headteacher, achieving the National Professional Qualification in Headship before leading an outstanding school and implementing measures to bring rapid improvement to schools in difficulties, thereby helping thousands of students to make outstanding progress.

Alan holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Warwick and worked in experimental physics research for a number of years at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory's neutron source near Oxford. After teaching Mathematics and Physics in Zimbabwe for Voluntary Service Overseas, he qualified as a science teacher in 2000.
